Student Poem of the Month — May 2007

Cover-up   © by   Melanie Richardson

Gathering the shards
Of our hearts together
Placing them
Gently in pockets
For safe keeping.
Draining the drops of tears
For no one to go back
And get drowned inside.
Sprinkling lies
To hide the truth
And cover all bruises
Is what girls do
Blanketing over our pain
Using the disguise
A smile.
