Student Poem of the Month — October 2003

Soft Horse Eyes   © by   Whitney York

Inside the barn, staring back at me
Soft Horse Eyes.
His sleek black coat
Shimmering from his grooming
Soft Horse Eyes
As he sees me pass
He gives out a cry
Soft Horse Eyes
As he sees me near
He pokes his head out
Soft Horse Eyes
Softly he muzzles my hand
Soft Horse Eyes
And then in the blink of an eye
He moves to the carrot in my hand
Soft Horse Eyes
As he muzzles my hand
With his sweet gentle touch
Out comes the carrot
And it goes into his mouth
Soft Horse Eyes
And then he is gone
With his Soft Horse Eyes
