Student Poem of the Month — April 2003

Sunrise to Sunset   © by   Cameron Caulk

As I awake I see pitch black
But as the day wears on,
I gaze and watch the sun come up
In a dreamy, blended dawn.

The birds begin to sing and chirp
And the flowers begin to bloom,
And sitting by my window sill
The sun’s rays warm my room.

They seem to be inviting me,
I thought I heard my name.
My excited dog and I
Stepped out to join the game.

As the day grew old we went inside,
Taking one last bounding leap.
With the fading purples, pinks, and blues
We gently fell asleep.
