Treasure   ©

by   Alison McIntosh

Sometimes I feel alone,
Wondering if you care,
About the feelings locked inside,
Not knowing that they're there.

Why can't you just try?
To look deeper than the skin,
There is something you may find,
A treasure held within.

A treasure filled, not with lead,
With silver, or with gold,
But a treasure filled with love,
Something worth to hold.

I try so hard sometimes,
Trying just to fit in,
But then I begin to realize,
That I'll probably never win.

But if you just give it a second glance,
And maybe then you'll see,
That there is more behind the lock,
If you only turn the key.
