Student Poem of the Month — June 2008

How Dance Speaks for Itself   © by   Leigh Maxwell

Your feet brush
against the slick
black floor making
letters to spell
out your emotions
You let your arms
hang down as your
head does the
same, you stand
still for one
moment thinking
about how your
mind makes your
movement, you begin
to lift your head
and arms and
gradually glance
at yourself in
the mirror and
think what am
I to you?
