August 15-19, 2007 — Haiku North America Biannual Conference
Winston-Salem, NC

One of the largest gatherings of haiku poets in the United States and Canada is coming to North Carolina, and the North Carolina Poetry Society is helping to make that happen. The NCPS is working with Lenard D. Moore, Bob Moyer, and Dave Russo to bring the Haiku North America conference to Winston-Salem from August 15-19.

Haiku North America (HNA) is a conference and a celebration of haiku that takes place every two years. It is a long weekend full of papers, panels, workshops, readings, performances, book sales, and much socialization with fellow poets, translators, scholars, editors, and publishers. Both established and aspiring haiku poets are welcome.

"If you have any interest in haiku, this conference is for you," said Russo, one of the organizers. "The list of presenters and presentations at HNA 2007 is pretty impressive. This is a unique opportunity to hear poets for whom haiku is not an occasional experiment, but a primary means of expression."

For more details, visit the Haiku North America website or call Dave Russo (North Carolina Haiku Society Webmaster) at 919-460-8632.
