Reverend Doctor John Dutton, Pastor
Reverend John Dutton was born in Belmont, NC, moving to Sanford NC when he was 10 years old. He graduated from Sanford Central High School and attended NC State. He received his B.S. in education from Atlantic Christian College in Wilson; Brite Divinity School, Texas Christian University, Master of Divinity; Drew University, Doctor of Ministry in Church Leadership (this study was helping people “connect” to their God-called ministry.)
He has been married to Patty for 32 years and they have two children. Patty teaches 5th grade at Grantham School in the Wayne County Public Schools. Their daughter, Karen, graduated from Greensboro College and completed her masters at Tufts University in Boston. She is married, living in Va. Beach. They have two granddaughters, Trinity and Mattox. Their son, Richard, is married and in Graduate School (PhD. Computer Science) at the College of William & Mary, Williamsburg, Va.
He states:
"I trust the saving grace of God in Jesus my Lord and the empowerment of the Holy Spirit to do the work of the community of faith. My spiritual journey includes a practical side working out of the spiritual giftedness that God has given me. The mystical side has found great meaning in the spiritual journey of those saints that realized the physical world is only part of God’s universe. The worshipful spirit within finds power in the leading of the Holy Spirit."
"I am driven by a vision of the person God wants me to become and what God wants the church to become. That vision includes sharing the good news of Jesus with those who have not heard or begun to recognize that “still small voice” in their lives. That vision includes encouraging all people to live out their God-called lives and empowering all people to serve in “ministries of service for those in need.”
